Harold J. Reimer

Harold J. Reimer, 91, formerly of 546 S. 26th St. passed away Saturday evening, March 1, 2008 at Harbor Heights Assisted Living, where he lived for a year.

Born January 30, 1917 in Sheboygan, Harold was a son of the late John and Irma Duchow Reimer. He attended area schools. In March of 1941, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, 32nd Division of the 127th Infantry. He served his country until August 8, 1945. On September 1, 1945, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Duchow at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They were married for 59 years before Dorothy preceded him in death on December 19, 2004.

Harold was a shopman for the Sheboygan County Highway Department for 38 years, retiring in 1982. He previously worked for the Sheboygan Chair Co. He was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church where he sang in the mixed and men's choirs. He enjoyed league bowling, hunting, fishing, softball, and crossword puzzles. He especially enjoyed woodworking which included many items for the church.

He is survived by his sister, Mabel Pelko, Sheboygan; his brother-in-law, Robert Duchow, Sheboygan; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Dorothy, he was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral Services for Harold will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the  Lippert-Olson Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. David Paape, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Internment will take place in Lutheran Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Harold will be remembered for his gentle kindness and ability to make others happy. He so appreciated and was close to his many caregivers over the last several years. Thank you to Comfort Keepers and Harbor Heights staff for the wonderful care given to Harold
