Bernice A. Mickelson

Bernice A. Mickelson, 86, of 2201 Erie Ave., peacefully passed away after a short stay at Meadow View Manor Nursing Home on Thursday, March 20, 2008.

She was born on January 31, 1922, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She was a daughter of the late Max and Emma Menne Schanglies. She attended Washington School and Central High School.

On January 20, 1942, she was married to the late Alexander Mickelson at the parsonage of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. The couple lived at 1411 Carl Ave. for 18 years and then 3411 N. 15th St. and then moved to her present address. Bernice was a homemaker and spent her time taking care of her five children. She was very close to family, frequently visiting her four sisters.

She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her five children, Dennis (Maryalice) Mickelson, Bruce Mickelson, Vicki (Tom) Nimmer, Brian Mickelson and Teri Hammack, all of Sheboygan. There are eight grandchildren, Jason (Michele) Mickelson, Jonathan Mickelson, Angela and Allen (Laura) Mickelson, Jeremiah (Justine) and Ashley (Bill Kettering) Nimmer, Christopher Hammack and Dana (Nick) Doty. There are six great grandchildren, Tiffinie (Christopher) Hammack, Haley and Elly (Allen) Mickelson, Mia (Jeremiah) Nimmer and Olivia and Gavin (Jason) Mickelson. She was preceded in death by her husband Alexander and four sisters, Delores Wisnowski, Alice Wisnowski, Evelyn Schneikert and Lucile Ertel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the Lippert-Olson Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave. The Rev. David Paape, pastor of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate. Relatives and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
