Walter J. Kurtz
Walter J. Kurtz, 93, of 306 Lincoln Avenue, passed away Saturday morning, March 15, 2008 at Morningside Nursing Home home where he had been the past few days. Born December 1, 1914 in Sheboygan, Walter was a son of the late John and Emma Hoch Kurtz. He attended area schools and graduated from Central High School in 1934. In 1939, he was united in marriage to Luella Gull at Fountain Park United Methodist Church. They were married for 48 years before Luella preceded him in death in 1987. Walter was a machinist at Sheboygan Machine and at Hayssen Manufacturing for 24 years. During W.W.II. he at the Kohler Co. manufacturing periscope parts for the Military. He was a member of Fountain Park United Methodist Church. Walter was an avid outdoor sportsman who very active in area conservation clubs. He was previously the recording secratry for the Issac Walton League, Sheboygan County Chapter Conservation Association. He is survived by his children, Richard (Carol), Sheboygan, Gary (Samantha), Littleton, CO, and Cathy Green, Appelton; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two nieces, Christine Pollock, San Diego, CA, and Grace Held, Thiensville, WI. Besides his wife, Luella, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Gristmacher. Funeral services for Walter will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Lippert-Olson Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Kerry Wilson, pastor of Fountain Park, will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 p.m. Noon until the time of service. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
