Kenneth Marquis Bailey, 83, of Sheboygan, WI, passed away at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee.

Kenneth was born May 3, 1924, in East Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from Aurora High School, he served in the US Army Air Forces during WWII as radar technician, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Kenneth went on to receive Baccalaureate and Masters Degrees at Western Reserve University and his PhD at the University of Iowa.

An ardent lover of the performing arts, Kenneth began his professional career in radio & television, where he wrote, produced and starred in such programs as "Bachelor's Quarters" (WEWS-TV, Cleveland OH) "Morning Midway" and "Breakfast With the Baileys" (KXIC, Iowa City IA) and others. By the early 1950s, however, he chose education as his life's vocation. He held positions as Asst. Professor at Miami University (Oxford, OH), Dean of Student Affairs at Penn State (Abington, PA), and Vice President of Colorado Northwestern Community College (Rangely, CO) before relocating to Sheboygan where he served as Dean of the University of Wisconsin - Sheboygan County from 1972 to 1985, and Adjunct Professor from 1985 until his retirement in 1989.

Throughout the past 35 years, Kenneth was involved in local theater, where he performed numerous roles in shows such as "Oliver" and "1776" at the UW Sheboygan Theater, "Hay Fever" at JMKAC Summer Theater, and "Cabaret," "Gypsy," "Camelot" and "Brigadoon" with Sheboygan Community Players, among others. Ken was also active with the Kiwanis Club from 1974 until his death, and proudly served Governor of Wisconsin-Upper Michigan District from 1989-90.

Ken's hobbies included vintage automobiles, model railroading, woodworking, electronics, and antique clocks. His greatest love, however, was anything he could enjoy with his beloved wife, Lillian Louise (Pekar) Bailey, with whom he would have celebrated his 58th Anniversary on March 31.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Lillian, two sons Kenneth (wife Eileen) of Sheboygan, and Scott (wife Janis) of Phoenix, AZ, three granddaughters Jessica Taylor (husband Leigh), Jennifer Zahniser and Jonnika Bailey, and four great-grandchildren Taylor Zahniser, Jack & Julian Taylor, and Derek Howard; his brother Curtiss M.
